Welcome & Thank You...

...for visiting the Blog of the Nonviolent Choice Directory.

We feature commentary but most of all action alerts on the same positive, abortion-reducing measures we cover in the Directory.

These measures include post abortion healing; male responsibility; comprehensive sexual/reproductive health education; all voluntary pregnancy prevention methods, plus rape and incest prevention & treatment; and life-affirming ways to get through crisis pregnancy and beyond.

Along with responding to our current action alerts, and participating in our Blog, you are welcome to volunteer with us.

A Nice Surprise on the Roe v. Wade Anniversary

On the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision, it is difficult to find commentary on abortion that does not simply reiterate the same old dogmas of "conservative and antiabortion" in a tag team grudge match against "progressive and prochoice."

Thank you to reporter Patrick O'Neill for something different, something that gives voice to pro every life, pro nonviolent choice advocacy. That doesn't happen every day, either.

Pro-life eco-feminists work for consistent ethic of life

Having been a feminist all my life, I struggled for several years to make peace with my passion for women's rights and the undeniable wrong that is abortion.

I have been made to feel that I cannot be a feminist if I am pro-life. So I stayed silent on the issue, not wanting to shed my feminist identity.

Finally, yesterday, I attended my first March for Life, and I have had it with the angry feminist rhetoric. Thank goodness for this site and this new label I can find comfort in. You can count me in as a Pro-Life Eco-Feminist - all values I strongly support (sanctity of life, stewardship of the earth, and equality under the law for all).

Karolina,

I am so glad that this website and the term of prolife ecofeminist give you a sense of belonging. That's what we're here for!

Indeed you don't have to shed your feminist identity, even though people like us get told all the time that we cannot be simultaneously and equally concerned about women and unborn children. It can be such an intense pressure, and it is difficult to bear, especially when one feels isolated and alone.

Anyone concerned about women's rights has a lot to be angry about. There is such a thing as righteous anger against injustices, including the injustices that pregnant women and their babies so often face.

But the question arises of whether a right to abortion across all circumstances continues or resolves those problems, and that's where you and I likely part company with many other feminists.

Hope you will visit & participate often. You will find some good company among our visitors. Welcome!
